Dedicated to
Musical Discovery

Rythmique Music School is dedicated to providing a vibrant environment for musical discovery to the Salt Lake Valley community.

Located in Sugar House, the school offers private cello lessons for serious students at any age and level, and group classes in Dalcroze Eurhythmics (musicianship through movement) for ages 3-12. Scholarships are available.

At Rythmique, learning is focused on developing musicianship and nurturing a deeper sense of connection with self, others, and the musical language.

mira Larson

"Mira Larson is an accomplished cellist and the only certified teacher of Dalcroze Eurhythmics in the state of Utah. A labor of love, Rythmique Music School is where she mostly shares her wonder for music, love of movement, and expertise with children ages 3 through mature adults. She also performs as a cellist around Salt Lake City and across the states. Having been raised in a Belgian-American family, Mira offers instruction in English and French.”

Student Experiences

"Mira is the best! She is a gifted musician and a brilliant teacher. She possesses the rare ability to share her joy in music, to inspire her students with the delight of learning all the while constantly challenging them to improve. Her natural warmth, her ability to clearly explain and demonstrate musical technique, and her vast musical knowledge ensures that each lesson is a positive and successful experience. Because of her, my son has discovered a life-long love of the cello. He looks forward to every lesson."

"Mira is an exceptional teacher and musician! She provides a complete music education, emphasizing not only instrumental skills but also movement, singing, aural skills, and rhythm and note reading. She is absolutely wonderful with children, and our son adores her—he really looks forward to his lesson each week! Mira’s disciplined and supportive approach enables rapid progress, which is extremely motivating."

"Mira is the utmost professional. She takes the musical education of children with the utmost seriousness. From the first moment of class until the last the children are in musical action - not a second is spared. We are so grateful Mira found her way into our lives. Our children love her so much. She is a modern day Mary Poppins - but with more Magic.”

Student Experiences

"Our son began cello lessons with Mira when he was 8 years old, at the beginning of 2020. We searched for the right fit and knew we found it when we met Mira. Mira is patient, gentle, clear, and calm, and has made learning the cello a real delight. Mira is a beautiful cellist and hearing her play is inspiring. One of our favorite parts of lessons is hearing Mira and our son play together. We would highly recommend Mira to anyone with an interest in learning the cello.”

Vanessa P., parent of a cello student

Student Experiences

"Mira has been my daughter's teacher for almost four years. Mira's class is professional and she knows how to drive kids to reach the course's objectives in a fun, respectful, and safe environment. Dalcroze is a beautiful method for kids to experience music naturally. In addition to this, it is not easy to find a teacher that can enrich the learning of another language, French in this case, while teaching music and dance.”

FAQ

Where can I rent or buy a cello?

When you start lessons, I will help you find a cello to rent or buy. This is your preference. Several shops count rental fees towards an instrument purchase, and I most often work with Peter Prier & Sons Violins. For more information, please see the resources page.

Do you teach adults?

Yes! I enjoy teaching students at any age and level who demonstrate commitment and a desire to learn and progress.

Should I start my child on instrument lessons, or Dalcroze Eurhythmics?

I have found that children who start their training with Dalcroze classes make exponentially faster progress once they begin learning an instrument. With musical concepts in place, these students often are motivated practicers.
