Summer Camp

Camp is wrapping up for this summer, and we already look forward to next year…

Our students are wrapping up their summer camp week, ears humming with the tunes we’ve sung! Each day has been chock-full of music, movement, learning, and crafts. Camp theme this year is the history of Nellie Bly, the pioneering American journalist who wrote for the Pittsburgh Dispatch, New York World, and New York Evening Journal over 100 years ago.

rehearsing for our informal showing

Daily format: -Monday through Thursday, we begin each day with 45 minutes of music and movement, rehearsing our songs and numbers along with some Dalcroze Eurhythmics activities.

-students enjoy a snack from home while teacher and assistant prepare the day’s crafts

-crafts are all costume and set pieces for our final performance

-On Friday, we work on finishing all crafts before beginning to string together all the parts of the performance we have learned

-Saturday there’s time for a final dress rehearsal before an informal showing for parents!

While students often do not know each other at the beginning of the week, they get to work together by sharing their ideas, collaborating on sets, and coordinating performance pieces. We are excited to share the results!
